Most people know the feeling of walking into a yarn shop and feeling their pulse quicken. For me, it's not just a hobby; it's an absolute euphoria. I've always been the one who got a little "crazy" when I saw some lovely yarn.

But how did I end up with my hands in the dye pots? And why were parrots my first theme?

Here's the story:

From Yarn Nerd to Color Alchemist

I've long dreamed of starting my own yarn brand. The name Fingernemt came to me because that's exactly what we yarn enthusiasts are – we create magic with our hands.

I set myself a goal: If I couldn't find the perfect, vibrant colors on the shelves, I'd have to get started with the pots myself. And the result? That's what you see here on this page.

Why parrots? 🦜

Many ask: "Why the bird theme?" The answer is simple: Nature is the wildest color designer there is, and parrots are its absolute rock stars.

My deep love for animals – and especially the colorful, personality-filled parrots – makes them the perfect source of inspiration. There's something fantastic about the combination of a soft wool thread and the intense colors found there. In addition, I have hand-reared parrots for several breeders and had my own companion, a grey parrot, who accompanied me throughout the beginning of my adult life. He was my primary inspiration for the first skein of yarn I dyed.

A New Beginning: Theodore and his "friends"

When I became a mother in 2024, my creativity received another boost (even if sleep suffered a bit!). My son, Theodore, has now become my little "assistant". The Mommy Collection was created and inspired by the colors that Theodore's little friends in the mothers' group bring into our daily lives.

Inspiration from the allotment garden

I have had an allotment garden in Nørresundby since 2019, and this garden has been my sanctuary ever since. Therefore, it is also a place I draw inspiration from. However, it is not only my own garden I draw inspiration from, but the many beautiful gardens found in such an association. There is everything good for the eye (and palate) and one can only become happy when allowed to see all the love that the other garden owners put into their small houses and into the plants they choose to cultivate and care for.
